As experts for measurement, we know the path from digital input of existing buildings and structures per laser scanner, UAV, or mobile mapping – all the way to finished CAD drawings or a complete 3D model. This means we also know how complex and costly this can be.
With our software, we provide all users of point cloud data with a simple, fast, and universal solution.
The focus is on uncomplicated handling of our software. This starts with a simple import – thanks to the broad interface to all laser scanner data formats. The software itself has a user interface that you can learn to use very quickly and operate intuitively. The export of the evaluated data is compatible with all common CAD systems.
In 2010, an attempt was made for the first time within Laserscanning Europe GmbH to develop special software to optimize the workflows with terrestrial laser scans and analyze point clouds effectively.
The declared objective from the outset was: every laser scanner and all CAD software was to be compatible.
The first prototype of the software is completed.
It comprises the basic functions to evaluate point clouds quickly and in two dimensions.
The software encountered strong demand and was successively extended.
In 2012, the functions “surface meshing”, “volume calculation”, and “orthofoto views” were included in the software.
PointCab GmbH is officially founded.
In May 2013, we developed version 3.0 with new, simpler operation and the in-house super-fast LSD(x) point cloud format.
In 2014, the format for point clouds from mobile mapping systems or from drone flights was extended in the xyz format.
The current version of PointCab is on the way to becoming the leading independent point cloud software. The tools enable the user to obtain geometry information and create documentation or presentations as easily and effectively as possible.
Introduction of the new plug-in PointCab 4BIMm for simple evaluation of point clouds in Graphisoft ARCHICAD.
As a result of the rapid expansion of point cloud acquisition by means of drone flights and hand-held scanners, PointCab also supports these growing markets with the necessary functions and workflows.
Introduction of the new “PointCab Registration” module, with which data from any scanners can be registered together.
The new plug-in PointCab 4Revit is released. This enables point cloud evaluation directly in AutoCad Revit.
From now on, our software is also compatible with SLAM point cloud algorithms for mobile hand-held scanners.
PointCab expands into the US and Canadian markets.
Our customers come from all sectors of industry that work with laser scanner point clouds and require a reliable software solution to do this work.
