The Space Warp module contains three functions:
- Cylindrical section
- Polygonal section
- Curved section
With these functions the surface inspection of nearly all forms, structures and building parts is possible in the twinkling of an eye on the basis of a detailed orthophoto.
Simply define the course of the area in question in the point cloud views and in sections and floor plans you have created yourself. With the three functionalities you can create orthophotos of any objects:
- of towers, columns or liquid tanks with the function “Cylindrical section”.
- of angled and buckling walls and facades with the function “Polygonal section”.
- of curved surfaces with the function “Curved section”.
The use of intensity or colour makes smooth surfaces even easier to interpret.
The deviations are also documented in the PDF protocol in order to highlight irregularities.

Unwind and analyze cylindrical and elliptical objects
With the function “Cylindrical section” you can unfold cylindrical and elliptically shaped objects directly from your point cloud and analyze and record deviations.
Use the function for surface and deformation analysis of towers, containers, tanks etc. and obtain exact results with just a few clicks.

Orthophotos of winding walls and facades
Simply define the course of the relevant walls or house facades in the point cloud with a polygon.
In the next step you receive the entire surface and can very quickly measure partial areas in the next step.
For instance simply mark sloping roof areas to get a detailed view.
Analysis of curved surfaces and height profiles of roads
The exact development of curved facades or surfaces that do not follow a specific shape can be done with just a few clicks using the “Curved section” function.
Simply adapt the section line with any number of marking points to the course of the curved surface and convert it into an exact planar orthophoto with just one click.
The function is also very well suited for checking road surfaces. Use data from mobile mapping systems or drones and use the function to mark the elevation profile of the road. In the generated orthophoto you can detect damages, depressions or dents.
True-to-scale unfolds as 2D plans
Unfold simple cylindrical objects and convert them into in 2D plans. This is how you make even complex shapes usable.
Use the true-to-scale plans in your CAD solution by means of the DWG and DXF interface.
Unfold and deformation analysis at one go
For each unfold, a deformation analysis is also carried out automatically alongside the 2D plan.
You immediately recognize unevenness in the cylinder surface and are provided with a statistical analysis of the deviations.
Use results straight in your CAD system
Use the results of PointCab Unfold straight as a DWG or DXF file in your CAD system. Thus, textures, dimensions and structures can be used as a basis for modeling and planning.
