Layouts and Sections in Allplan
In this tutorial we you will learn how to use PointCAb Layouts and Sections in Nemetschek Allplan.
First of all we create a Layout in PointCab with the Layout tool.
Create a Layout
It is important to use the Planar setting under the Job Editor settings “CAD”:

The setting “Planar” will enable an axially parallel import of the results to Allplan.
Next we will create a Section using the same settings:

If you are only working with Allplan you could also enable the setting “planar” in your global settings. You can find the global setting in the menu under “file” > “settings”.
Of course you can create as many Layouts and Sections as you need.

Now we need to start processing the Jobs.

Meanwhile we start Allplan and create a new project.

In the next step we will open the project related drawing structure in Allplan.

We can now create a drawing based on resulting orthophotos we will import from PointCab.

Now we rename the drawing to PointCab Import.
Now we are getting the PointCab results into the drawing via drag&drop, in the order right to left, and rename the to pictures Layout, Section_Q and SectionL. Every one of those pictures is a resulting orthophoto PointCab generated according to our previous settings and definition from the point cloud data. If you had 5 different LAyouts from 5 different stories, you would need 5 pictures and so on.

Now we activate the first picture, the Layout, and close the drawing structure.
Now we import the Layout orthophoto onto that picture.

We can find the PointCab results in the folder Project_Results>Orthophotos
we find the PointCAb results in the sub-folder Orthophotos
Now we select the Layout.

Next we put the Layout on the picture.

Now we can adjust transparancy of our orthophoto in the Layout settings so we are able to better see the drawings we are about to make. we simply activate the Layout and navigate to settings and adjust the transparancy level.
Now is the time we create some line drawings.
Or we can go ahead and draw some walls. For this we would need to measure the wall diameters first.

Activate the wall-tool in Allplan and define the outer walls.

With the help of the settings we can define our wall diamters.

In the next step we will define the hights of our wall. So we simply import our Sections into our Allplan project. But first we need to activate our Section picture.

Now we start the import.

Allplan is now looking at the path we have had chose for finding our Layout, so we save some time finding our Sections.

Again we will set up a bit of transparancy for our imported orthophoto.

Now we have our PointCab results correctly positioned to our original scan project. If you have extracted a usable reference hight in your PointCab Sections you can now simply use those to measure the hights of the wall and finish drawing your walls in Allplan.
