Hereinafter, all settings in our Job Editor are explained.
Settings Layout parameters:
In the tab Layout Parameter, you find X Y Z coordinates of the layout line or plane of projection.
The section area defines the width of the section – that means all measured points, which are located within the yellow highlighted section area, are processed in PointCab.
The angle indicates the measured angle between the horizontal basis (e. g. of the X axis) and the generated intersection line.
Due to the parameter Direction, you can determine how you look at your object and how it is projected. You can determine, for instance, if you want to look from the bottom up in order to create a ceiling plan.
By choosing the Align settings, you can adjust your layout line to the X axis or Y axis.
The feature Stretch allows the elongation of your layout line in a defined angle.
Settings Layout processing:
Each orthophoto created with PointCab consists of single image points that are representative for each measured point in your point cloud. You use the image resolution to define the quality of the orthophoto. The higher the resolution, the more detailed your image of the point cloud. Orthophotos with high resolution need more storage space and they often cannot be imported with the same resolution in other systems!
For the analysis, it is also important to rely on the perfect settings. It usually makes sense to get an overview of the project – in low resolution – and then to select the areas which shall be analyzed in detail.
Beside of the X, Y and Z coordinates, a laser scanner determines the reflection characteristics of real objects. Different materials have different reflection values. By adjusting the reflectivity, either you get very accentuated edges (0%) or you can better localize or distinguish different materials (100%).
PointCab allows the use of color information that has been captured by the laser scanner. You may use full color information (100%) or no color information (0%).
For processing, PointCab uses only points within the defined radius around the center of each scanner position (point cloud). This radius is defined by means of the setting scan readius. The setting scan radius should be adjusted to the respective laser scanning project. If the scan radius is too small, “empty” areas arise. If the scan radius is too large, distortions and blurry areas can be the result.
Single scanner positions can be activated or deactivated. If a scanner position is deactivated, all measured points of that scanner position are not included during processing. PointCab only uses activated point clouds for processing.
Settings CAD output:
In Job Editor, you can choose all settings, which you have made in your CAD system, in the tab CAD. For instance, you can change the background color or change the export unit from meters into millimeters.
In PointCab, the following image file formats are available: PNG – JPG – BMP – TIFF.
You can use projection to define which coordinates can be saved in the output file. Use the setting Planar if you work with 2D programs or 3D CAD software. In that setting, the orthophoto is created in the XY plane.
Settings File output:
Use the tab File to adjust the File path and the name of your layout.
The Exports indicate the format you want to save your results in. With PointCab, you can create DWG, DXF and DAE files.
